Vice President, Business Development

Job Summary

The role of the Vice President, Business Development is to direct the company’s business development engagements. This includes, but is not limited to, sourcing and negotiation of partnership agreements.

  • Work with the head of business development to refine the company’s business development strategy
  • Direct business development activities and ensure that they are aligned with the company’s business strategy
  • Identify and cultivate prospective new partners and collaborators
  • Maintain the company’s business development network of contacts and ensure that awareness of Precision is accurate and current
  • Source in-licensing opportunities aligned to the company’s business strategy
  • Draft and propose terms for new agreements
  • Negotiate partnership agreements
  • Finalize and execute partnership contracts in collaboration with company counsel
  • Ensure consistency among new agreements and obligations under existing agreements
  • Represent Precision at industry conferences and meetings
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises the Business Development team
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable law
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and rewarding and providing constructive feedback to employees
Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

Education/Experience

  • MBA or equivalent; 10+ years of related Business Development experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Business Development experience at a life sciences company is preferred
  • A degree in a life sciences field is preferred

Language Ability

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management

Math Ability

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
